Darin Lee Hickel, 35, died June 11, 2007, in McCook, Nebraska. Darin was born on July 7, 1971 at Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Kenneth A. and Carol J. Feist Hickel. He was a resident of McCook for six months coming from Great Bend, Kansas. He was a manager for U.S. Air of McCook and was a pilot and flight instructor. He had a passion for airplanes and ships, history and loved reading. He was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick and A.O.P.A. Survivors include his parents Kenneth and Carol Hickel of Great Bend, Kansas; his paternal grandmother, Agnes Hickey of Hoisington, Kansas and numerous Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Fred Hickel and his maternal grandparents, Leon and Anna Feist. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 14, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend, Kansas with Father Warren Stecklein and Father Pascal Klein officiating. Interment will be at St. Peter and Paul Cemetery, north of Ellinwood, Kansas. A vigil service will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2007 at 7:00 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home, Great Bend, Kansas. Visitation will be Wednesday, June 13, 2007 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday, June 14,2007 from 9:00 a.m. to noon at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to St. Peter and Paul Church Restoration or Kansas for Life in care of the funeral home.
