Dale E. Carr, Jr., died September 19, 2011 at Great Bend Regional Hospital, Great Bend, Kansas. He was born July 31, 1937 at Ellis, Kansas, the son of Grace Evelyn (Mickelson) Carr. A lifetime Pawnee Rock and Great Bend resident, Mr. Carr was a carpenter. He was a United States Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. Survivors include his father, Walt Crist, Great Bend; three brothers: John Carr, Great Bend; Gordon Crist, Dayton, Ohio; and Edward Crist, Bunker Hill, Kansas; and four sisters: Jan Flint, Great Bend; Karen Kay Gilkey, Hutchinson, Kansas; Gloria Callaway, Pratt, Kansas; and Tonya Appel, Larned, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his mother, Grace Crist; and one sister, Sandra Newkirk. Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 23, 2011 at Bryant Funeral Home with Pastor Jack Sweany officiating. Inurnment will be in Pawnee Rock Cemetery. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Memorials are requested to the Dale E. Carr, Jr. Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.
