Christina M. Gerritzen, 88, died May 7, 2008 at Cherry Village Residential Care, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born July 17, 1919 at Hoesbrook, Holland, the daughter of John and Maria Langenweld. When she came to the United States she was a housekeeper for Father Cornelius Leunissen at Odin, Kansas, later marrying Albert H. Gerritzen on August 23, 1953 at Odin. He died November 23, 1987. Mrs. Gerritzen was a longtime Odin resident, coming from Holland, becoming a United States citizen January 15, 1957. Mrs. Gerritzen was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church and Altar Society, both of Odin. Survivors are one brother, William Langenweld, Holland; two sisters, Lies Brands, Holland, and Gertrude Nauts, Holland; and nieces and nephews. A vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2008, followed by an Altar Society Rosary at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Odin, with Father Dwight Birket celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Odin. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 9, 2008 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Holy Family Cemetery Fund, in care of the funeral home.
