Charles "Gail" Hurter 1934-2012 Perryton, Texas - Charles Gail Hurter, 77, died March 29, 2012 at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. He was born on December 31, 1934 at Ochiltree County, Texas, the son of Bernard and Katie (Morris) Hurter. Gail married Susie Miller in 1959. They later divorced. In 1962 he married Mary Glenda Evans. They later divorced. He served his country in the United States Army. Gail graduated from Texas Tech University with his Bachelors Degree and then went on to earn his Master's degree in Business and Counseling from Fort Hays State University, Hays, Kansas. Mr. Hurter taught school in Wilson, Kansas; Ford, Kansas; and Palco, Kansas and in Dove Creek, Colo. After retirement he moved back to Perryton, Texas. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, reading, golfing, watching sports and was a Dallas Cowboys fan. Survivors include one son, Kevin Carman and his wife Susan, Baton Rouge, Louisiana; two daughters, Zetta O'Donnell and her husband Danny, Long Beach, California; Martha Wondra and her husband Dave, Hoisington, Kansas; two sisters, Kathy Allred and husband Jerral , Janet Mclain and companion Al, both of Perryton, Texas; nine grandchildren, Tiffany, Tamara, Michael, Jesse, Glenn, Sarah, Brandy, Abigail, and Ellie three great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Mary Hurter, Galveston, Texas and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant son, Charles Gail Hurter, infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth Hurter, sister, Rita Ann Hargrove, brother, Roland Hurter, and a brother-in-law, Dudley Hargrove. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Perryton, Texas.
