Charlene Holopirek, 72, died July 12, 2008 at her Great Bend, Kansas, residence. She was born April 16, 1936 at Great Bend, Kansas, the daughter of Fred and Ida (Springer) Oetken. She married Jack E. Holopirek September 14, 1955 at Peace Lutheran Church, Albert, Kansas. He died February 6, 1993. A homemaker, Mrs. Holopirek was a resident of Great Bend since 1965, coming from Rush Center, Kansas. Mrs. Holopirek was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church, Great Bend, and volunteered at Central Kansas Medical Center. Survivors include two sons: Terry Holopirek and wife, Alfrecia, Santa Clara, California; and Scott Holopirek and wife, Annette, Schuylkill Haven, Pennsylvania; one brother, Dellane Lee Oetken and wife, Carolyn, Albert, Kansas; three grandchildren; one step-grandchild; and one great-grandchild. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Peace Lutheran Church, Rural Albert, Kansas, with Pastor Adam Wutka presiding. Burial will be in Peace Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials in Mrs. Holopirek's name are requested to St. Mark Lutheran Church or Peace Lutheran Church, both in care of the funeral home.
