Celene S. Hester, 91, died November 21, 2008 at Country Place Home Plus, Hoisington, Kansas. She was born October 5, 1917 at Bazine, Kansas, the daughter of Elmer and Harriet E. (Fairbanks) Cooley. She married Tom T. "Pete" Hester March 22, 1943 at Great Bend, Kansas. He died April 23, 1973. A Hoisington resident since 1976, coming from the farm near the Galatia and Olmitz area, Mrs. Hester was a homemaker. Survivors include one daughter, Joleen Steinert and husband, Duane, Olmitz, Kansas; two grandchildren: Darrin Steinert and Shelley Snyder; five great-grandchildren: Kendall and Dalton Steinert; and Summer, Nicholas, and Chance Snyder. She was preceded in death by one infant son, Terry Lee Hester; three brothers: Floyd Cooley, Dean Cooley, and Thayne Cooley; and one sister, Elva Cunningham. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 24, 2008 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home with the Reverend Adam Wutka officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Galatia, Kansas. Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, November 23, 2008, with the family receiving friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Additional visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to service time, Monday. Memorials are requested to St. Paul Lutheran Church or the Donor's Choice, in care of the funeral home.
