Cecelia T. Schneweis, 80, died September 6, 2008 at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas. She was born October 23, 1927 at Redwing, Kansas, the daughter of Joe K. and Agnes (Debes) Wondra. She married Lawrence L. Schneweis May 29, 1956 at Odin, Kansas. He died February 17, 1976. A homemaker on the family farm, Mrs. Schneweis was a lifetime resident of Odin. Mrs. Schneweis was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Altar Society, both of Odin. Survivors include one son, David Schneweis and wife, Norma Jean, Claflin, Kansas; one daughter, Donna Schneweis, Topeka, Kansas; four brothers: Robert Wondra, Great Bend, Kansas; Art Wondra, Great Bend, Kansas; Al Wondra, Odin, Kansas; and Jerry Wondra, Great Bend, Kansas; four sisters: Mary Ann Collins, Ellinwood, Kansas; Margaret White, Great Bend, Kansas; Rita Legleiter, St. Marys, Kansas; and Jeanie Hapes, Great Bend, Kansas; and one granddaughter, Jacque Schneweis. She was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Wondra; and two sisters, Alice Wondra and Sr. Edith Wondra. Vigil service will be at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2008 followed by an Altar Society Rosary at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at Holy Family Catholic Church. Father Dwight Birket will be celebrant. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 9, 2008 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Memorials in Mrs. Schneweis's name have been established with Holy Family Cemetery or Father Don Debes, Papua, New Guinea, Missonary work, both in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
