Caroline M. Pflughoeft, 81, died August 16, 2008 at Ellinwood District Hospital, Ellinwood, Kansas. She was born April 24, 1927 at Lorraine, Kansas, the daughter of Charles J. and Nora B. (Soeken) Heitschmidt. She married Homer Pflughoeft January 1, 1947 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Holyrood, Kansas. He died March 17, 1993. A lifelong resident of the Claflin and Holyrood areas, Mrs. Pflughoeft was a homemaker and was employed at various places, including Elkan in Ellsworth; and the Jack and Jill in Holyrood. Mrs. Pflughoeft was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Ellinwood; and was a former member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Holyrood, where she volunteered in many capacities. Survivors include three sons: Roger Pflughoeft and wife, Marilyn, Wichita, Kansas; Charles Pflughoeft and wife, Brenda, Branson, Missouri; and Vernon Pflughoeft and fiancee, Rita Clements, Chase, Kansas; ten grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Bobby Heitschmidt. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Holyrood with the Reverends Jeff Frakes and John Sharp officiating. Burial will be in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, August 18, 2008 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Clara Barton Hospital or Hutchinson Hospital, in care of the funeral home.
