Carol A. Strobel, 66, died December 27, 2008 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born July 19, 1942 at Great Bend, the daughter of Herman and Elsie (Jones) Riedl. She married George Strobel February 25, 1961 at Hoisington, Kansas. A LMHT at Larned State Hospital, Mrs. Strobel was a resident of Great Bend since 2005, coming from Burdett, Kansas. Mrs. Strobel was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick, Altar Society and devoted much of her time as a volunteer to her church and area schools. Survivors include her husband, George Strobel, of the home; Chris Strobel and wife, Therese, Shawnee, Kansas; one daughter, Rebecca Strobel and fiance, Joseph Crockett, Clovis, New Mexico; one brother, Virgil Hogan, Hoisington, Kansas; and three grandchildren, Kelsey Strobel, Colton Weaver, and Allison Weaver. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Riedl and Norman Hogan; and one sister, Mary Rose Robb. Altar Society Rosary will be at 4:00 p.m., and a vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m., Monday, December 29, 2008 at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at St. Patrick Catholic Church. Father Floyd McKinney will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Seward, Kansas. Friends may call from noon to 9:00 p.m., Monday, December 29, 2008 at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to the Prince of Peace Parish, in care of the funeral home.
