Calvin D. Showalter, 68, died February 2, 2012 at his home, Albert, Kansas. He was born June 30, 1943 at Hutchinson, Kansas, the son of Paul M. and M. Catherine (Miller) Showalter. He was a Kansas State University graduate with an engineering degree. He married Susan Boroughs May 7, 1994 at Great Bend, Kansas. An Albert resident since 1994, coming from Hutchinson, Mr. Showalter was an engineer for the Kansas Department of Transportation Great Bend office, retiring in 2010. He loved fishing and reading. Survivors include his wife, Susan, of the home; two sons: Paul Showalter and his wife Sandra, Dubai, United Arab Emirates; and Travis Showalter, Albert; one daughter, Maggie Lewis Daisy, Salina, Kansas; one brother, Jim Showalter and his wife Bobbie, Topeka, Kansas; two sisters: Paula Hinshaw and her husband Rex, Springfield, Missouri; and Barbara Watkins and her husband Dr. Steven, Topeka, Kansas; and three grandchildren: Skylar Lewis, Rebecca Lewis, and Luke Showalter. Memorial graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 10, 2012 at Pleasant View Cemetery, Darlow, Kansas, (From Crupper's Corner south of Hutchinson, three miles south on Highway 17, and two miles west on Greenfield Road). Friends may sign the register book from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Thursday, February 9, 2012 at Bryant Funeral Home.
