Bonnie Jo Wheeler, 84, died March 2, 2009 at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend, Kansas. She was born April 25, 1924 at Richland, Missouri, the daughter of Albert and Ollie Elizabeth (Brown) Decker. She married Ivan A. Wheeler September 18, 1940 at Richland, Missouri. He died November 25, 1992. A homemaker, Mrs. Wheeler was a resident of Great Bend since 1956, coming from Larned, Kansas. She loved her family and enjoyed flowers and gardening. Survivors include three sons: Jerry Wheeler, Great Bend, Kansas; Gary Paul Wheeler and wife, Janet, Rose Hill, Kansas; and Terry Wheeler and wife, Peggy, Great Bend, Kansas; two daughters: Patricia Ellis, San Bernardino, California; and Debbie Eliason and husband, Chad, Ellsworth, Kansas; two sisters: Bessie McKay, Richland, Missouri; and Neva Miller, Richland, Missouri; eighteen grandchildren; and nineteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan; one son, Miles Wheeler; one daughter-in-law, Carolyn Wheeler; four brothers, Lloyd Decker, Lee Decker, Frank Decker, and Raymond Decker; and five sisters, Velma, Edith, Betty, and Ruby; and one granddaughter, Amanda Wheeler. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, March 5, 2009 at Bryant Funeral Home. The Reverend Don Paden will officiate. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to the Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of the funeral home.
