Billie Lou Burgardt, 61, died Friday, April 1, 2011 at Rock Island Rehab and Nursing Center, Rock Island, Illinois. She was born February 18, 1950 at WaKeeney, Kansas, to Fred J. and Christina (Mai) Mai. She married Elmer S. Burgardt August 11, 1989 at WaKeeney. Survivors include her husband, Elmer, of Great Bend; three step-sons: Elmer Burgardt, Jr., Great Bend; Joseph Burgardt, Great Bend; and Sean Bollig, Ellis, Kansas; two step-daughters: Angela Lemonds, Hutchinson, Kansas; and Rhonda Hill, Granby, Colorado; four brothers: Melvin Mai and wife Delores, New Orleans, Louisiana; Kenneth Mai and wife, Georgeann, Shawnee, Kansas; Richard Mai and wife Barbara, Fort Morgan, Colorado; and Donald Mai and wife Shirley, WaKeeney; six sisters: Alvina Zeh and husband Gene, Hemet, California; Marie Kroeger and husband Curt, Florence, Oregon; Darlene Luttig and husband Bill, Temple City, California; and Betty Stone, Spring Valley; Evelyn Clark and husband Don, Morland, Kansas; and Sharon Bell and husband Doyle, Centennial, Colorado; six step-grandchildren: Jenson Hill, Granby, Colorado; Madaline Hill, Granby; and Alexis Lemonds, Amanda Burgardt, Christian Burgardt, and Trey Burgardt, all of Great Bend; and numerous cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Emanuel; one sister, Irene; two brothers-in-law, Frank Hockman and Bill Stone; and one sister-in-law, Vicki Mai; three nephews, Bruce Hockman, Kevin Mai, and Dale Scott; two nieces, Becky Mai and Donna Mai; one step-granddaughter, Rickie Olsen and one step-grandson Bryan Burgardt. Memorial services will be from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Saturday, May 7 at the the Elks Lodge, Great Bend.
