Betty J. Sloan, 90, died Dec. 13, 2015, at Great Bend Regional Hospital. Born Nov. 3, 1925 at Herington, she was the daughter of Emil P. and Laura (Amerine) Nicolet. She married Delbert A. Sloan April 4, 1953 at Great Bend.  He died Sept. 9, 2010. A lifetime Great Bend resident, Mrs. Sloan was Assistant Vice President for Security State Bank, Great Bend.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, and American Legion Auxiliary, all of Great Bend. She was active with the Great Bend Chamber of Commerce, Great Bend Women's Bowling Association, Great Bend Women's Golf Association, Camp Fire Girls, Recreation Baseball and softball coach and Barton Community College Adoptive Parents program.

Survivors include a son, Bruce Sloan of Great Bend, and six grandchildren She was preceded in death by daughter, Shirley Mueller; and one step-daughter, Dell Hayden.

Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 18, 2015, at First United Methodist Church in Great Bend with the Reverend Lennie Maxwell and Matt Aycock officiating. Interment will be at Great Bend Cemetery. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.  Memorials are suggested to Alzheimer's Association or First United Methodist Church, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
