Bernard J. Boor, age 77, died Sunday January 12, 2014 at Clara Barton Hospital in Hoisington, Kansas. He was born June 9, 1936 in Barton County Kansas the son of Nicholas Frank and Mathilda (Schneweis) Boor. A lifetime Barton County resident, moving to Odin, Kansas in 1970, Bernard worked for Barton County, and later was employed as a bull dozer operator for George Tregellas and Allen Drilling. Bernard was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Odin. Bernard married Carole Jiricek October 7, 1958 at Ellsworth, Kansas. Survivors include his wife: Carole Boor of the home; one daughter: Connie Boor of Hoisington; four sons: Steve Boor of Hoisington, Mark Boor of Odin, Chris Boor of Olmitz, Kansas, and Patrick Boor and wife Lori of Larned, Kansas; three sisters: Mary Ann Hipp of Great Bend, Kansas, Geraldine Reichenberger of Wichita, Kansas, and Leona Myles of Allentown, Pennsylvania; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one grandson, Jordan Boor. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church in Hoisington with Father Pascal Klein officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Family in Odin. Friends may call Wednesday January 15, 2014 from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a vigil service followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. all at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington.
