Beau Matthew Mettlen, 18, passed away April 8, 2023. He was born on June 21, 2004, to Jeff and Michelle (Baker) Mettlen.

Beau grew up in Colby and was a current Great Bend resident. Beau was attending Barton Community College, on course to graduate in May 2023, with an associate degree in Agriculture Crop Protection. He was preparing to serve an internship with Performance Crop Research in Great Bend. Never having idle hands and having a servant's heart, Beau was always ready to help his family, friends, and community. He was known for operating his own mowing business at an early age, helping his grandpa work cattle and farm, and serving on the color guard for Memorial Day at the Lucas Cemetery. He enjoyed "all things outdoors"; including landscaping, fishing, hunting, kayaking, and playing baseball.

Memorial services will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. , at the Lucas United Methodist Church, 322 N Main St., Lucas , Kan., with Pastor Les Rye presiding. Inurnment will be in the Lucas Cemetery following the service. Memorials have been designated to the Beau Matthew Mettlen Memorial Fund (to benefit Lucas community projects), in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530 .
