Barry "Bernie" Young, 50, died June 10, 2011 at Via Christi St. Francis Regional Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. He was born December 24, 1960 at Honolulu, Hawaii, the son of Anthony and Elizabeth (Hikalea) Young. He was a cook for the Petroleum Club, Gentlemen's Club, and Wendy's. He was a Great Bend resident since 1988, coming from Honolulu. Survivors include three brothers: Charles Lewis, Eldon Lewis, and Adrian Lewis, all of Honolulu; three sisters: Cheryl Lewis and Arva Lewis, both of Honolulu; and Alleda Hoilien, Great Bend; one step-sister, Ida Jane Smith, Albuquerque, New Mexico; and companion, David Smith, Albuquerque; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Bryant Funeral Home. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Barry Young Funeral Expense Fund, in care of the funeral home.
