Anton J. "Tony" Reif, 89, died May 19, 2011 at Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, Kansas. He was born July 23, 1921 at Odin, Kansas, the son of Alois F. and Anna M. (Hitschmann) Reif. He married Eleanor Martha Demel October 20, 1942 at Odin. A Claflin resident since 1993, coming from Odin, Mr. Reif was a farmer and electrician. Mr. Reif was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and former Grand Knight, and church choir member. He played minor league baseball, and enjoyed bowling, horseshoes, square dancing, hunting, card playing, and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Reif, of the home; one son, Greg Reif, Odin; one daughter, Sharon Dreiling and husband Gary, Hoisington; one sister, Jean Moeder, Great Bend, Kansas; one brother, Frank Reif, Cunningham, Kansas; seven grandchildren: Shelli Dreiling, Rebecca Johnson, Tracie Rubio, Kimberlie Demel, Anthony Reif, Trenton Reif, and Blake Reif; twelve great-grandchildren: Kyler Dreiling, Kinley VanNess, Zoie Johnson, Zylie Johnson, Zurie Johnson, Alexis Rubio, Zachary Rubio, Nicolas Rubio, Alaina Rubio, Kole Dove, Gage Demel, and Liam Reif. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Msgr. Steve Reif and Lawrence Reif; two sisters, Irene Polzin and Emma Prosser; and two infant sisters, Virginia Reif and Marie Reif. Vigil service with Knights of Columbus Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m., Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 23, 2011 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Claflin. Father Charles Mazouch will be celebrant. Friends may call from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, May 22, 2011 at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Odin. Memorials are requested to the American Alzheimer's Association or Holy Family Cemetery Fund, in care of the funeral home.
