Andrew J. Crawford, Sr., 84, died September 3, 2013 at Ellsworth County Medical Center, Ellsworth, Kansas. He was born November 5, 1928 at Nuyaka, Oklahoma, the son of Andy William and Dorothy Mary (Slankard) Crawford. He married Melva Thomas July 24, 1947 at Okemah, Oklahoma. A Great Bend resident since 1950, coming from Fairfax, Oklahoma, he worked for Sunflower Dairy, Western Music and Vending, and Coca-Cola Bottling, and owned APCO, Vickers, and Alcove Supper Club. He loved his family and playing pool. Survivors include his wife, Melva Crawford, of the home; four sons: Andrew Crawford, Jr., and his wife Diana, Avon, Indiana; Steve Crawford and his wife Marcia, Great Bend; David M. Crawford, Sr., and his wife Patty, Great Bend; and Kenneth Crawford, Hutchinson, Kansas; four daughters: Judy L. Vasquez, Great Bend; Betty Adams, Great Bend; Brenda Langston and her husband Roger, Holyrood, Kansas; and Sue Schridde and her husband David, Taneyville, Missouri; four sisters: Loretta Honeywell, Oklahoma; Eleanora Boyer, Texas; Kay Brian, Oklahoma; and Sue Howard, Oklahoma; one brother, Gene Crawford, Henryetta, Oklahoma; thirty-nine grandchildren; seventy great-grandchildren; and thirteen great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Joseph Luis Vasquez; one brother, William Crawford; one sister, Wanda Lee Oglesby; one grandson, Jeremy Adams; and one great-grandson, Matthew Wyatt Beesley. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 7, 2013 at Bryant Funeral Home with the Reverend Dick Ogle officiating. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, September 6, 2013 and from 9:00 a.m. to service time Saturday at Bryant Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are requested to the Andrew Crawford Memorial Fund, in care of the funeral home.
