Almer A. "Al" Yost, 99, died June 14, 2013 at River Bend Assisted Living, Great Bend, Kansas. He was born July 13, 1913 at Topeka, Kansas, the son of Almer A., Sr. and Lucy D. (Fiederling) Yost. He married Marceline Marie Fergueson March 9, 1947 at Hugoton, Kansas. She died December 28, 1999. A Great Bend resident since 1949, coming from Lyons, Kansas, Mr. Yost was involved in all facets of the oil production industry, later owning and operating Yost Oil Company. For the last seventeen years, Mr. Yost was an investor. Mr. Yost attended First Southern Baptist Church, Great Bend, and was a member of American Legion Argonne Post 180, Kansas Oil and Gas Association, and was inducted into the Kansas Oil and Gas Hall of Fame. Survivors include one step-daughter, Dorothy Caraway, Lufkin, Texas; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marceline; and one step-daughter, Bonnie Wyrick. Graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, June 17, 2013 at Bryant Funeral Home. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion Riders. Memorials are requested to Elder Care or Harden Hospice or Kansas Oil and Gas Museum Al Yost Scholarship, in care of the funeral home.
